British army technical officers have made safe what the RUC described as a "crude, but dangerous" explosive device containing nails left on the window-sill of a house in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

The device was found in the Windmill Drive area at around 7 a.m. yesterday but not reported to the police until 9.20 a.m. At least 30 houses had to be evacuated during the security operation.
