Palestinian President Mr Yasser Arafat rejected Israeli demands today to give a list naming the people holed up with him in his West Bank headquarters.

The Israeli army allowed chief Palestinian negotiator Mr Saeb Erekat into the besieged presidential complex in the West Bank city of Ramallah to brief him on talks he had earlier with Israeli officials near Ramallah.

Mr Erekat said by telephone that the army had refused to show him its own list of people in the compound whom they want to surrender following suicide bombings last week.

He said the army demanded the Palestinians present a list instead, showing all those in the compound and identifying suspected militants.
