Antrim motorway crash kills one, injures seven

A Cork man died and seven others were injured in a road crash on the M2 motorway in Co Antrim overnight.

Patrick Joseph Flynn (50) from Kilcorney in Rathcool, Co Cork, died when an articulated lorry reportedly struck and then crossed the central reservation onto the other carriageway shortly before 7 p.m. near Templepatrick.

Two cars travelling towards Belfast were damaged in the incident.

Four of the injured were taken to Antrim hospital, and three others were treated in Belfast. Their conditions are described as serious but not life-threatening.

The motorway was closed to traffic until 3 a.m.
