PRESIDENT Clinton's holiday reading had a distinctly green hue as he flew to the Virgin Islands this week for his new year break.
The Greening of the White House, an account of the US government's involvement in the peace process written by Conor O'Clery, former Washington Correspondent of The Irish Times, was among the books chosen by Mr Clinton for his holiday.
During his stay in the Virgin Islands he will be preparing the speech for the inauguration of his second term on January 20th. Mr O'Clery, now Asia Correspondent for The Irish Times, said he was "delighted" that the President had elected his book for holiday reading. "It's a fairly neutral account of how the White House developed its policy on the peace process," he said.
The Greening of the White House was published here in November by Gill & Macmillan. President Clinton also took with him a copy of Irish Lace, set in, Ireland and Chicago, by the Irish American novelist and priest, Father Andrew Greeley.
