Fine Gael MEP Ms Mary Banotti is to be appointed a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador at a ceremony to be held in the UN headquarters in New York on Monday.
Ms Banotti will serve as campaign spokeswoman for the "Face to Face Campaign", an initiative by the UN Family Planning Association to publicise the plight of women denied access to reproductive healthcare and family planning services.
