Algiers - An Algerian woman who says she is 116 is claiming the title of world's oldest person following the death of the 122-year-old French woman, Jeanne Calment, a newspaper reported yesterday.

Civil records indicate that Ms Khaldouna Ouazza, who lives near the town of Annaba in the east of the country, was born in 1881, according to the newspaper El Watan. - (AFP)
