London - The Bering glacier in south-east Alaska has shrunk by 130 sq km over the last century due to global warming, Greenpeace said in a report released today. The glacier, 191 km long and covering 5,000 sq km, is 10 km to 12 km shorter than it was 100 years ago, the environmentalist organisation said. The glacier's thaw is attributed to global warming caused by the use of fossil fuels, Greenpeace said. - (AFP)
