London - The Egyptian tycoon, Mr Mohammed al Fayed, lost a legal battle yesterday for the right to participate in the inquest into the death of Princess Diana.

The judge rejected arguments by lawyers for Mr al Fayed that he was entitled to representation at the inquest because of his son Dodi Fayed's relationship with the former wife of Prince Charles.

Inquests into their deaths are currently due to be held separately.
