Strike action by Aer Lingus cabin crew threatened for Wednesday and Friday has now been deferred pending a ballot on new pay proposals.

IMPACT, the cabin crew's union, said it was lifting the strike threat to allow members to consider a new pay and conditions package agreed in talks with Aer Lingus management last Friday.

The proposed new pay formula that emerged from the meeting is understood to be based closely on last week’s Labour Court proposals on the issue.

Full details of the package will be announced tomorrow.

Among the proposals are an award of between £590 and £1,090 a year to cabin crew managers.
