Ajaccio - French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo was seriously ill after suffering a suspected stroke yesterday while on holiday on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, a doctor who treated him said.
The head of the emergency department at Bastia hospital said the 68-year-old actor, who has been transferred to a hospital in Paris at the request of his family, needed specialist medical care.
"One cannot predict what will happen and it is premature at this moment to say anything," Dr Joelle Lambert said.
