Hong Kong - A Chinese activist involved in a campaign calling on Beijing to reassess its verdict on the Tiananmen protest has been sent for three years to a labour camp without trial, a human rights group said yesterday.

The Information Centre of Human Rights and Democratic Movement in China said Mr Peng Cheng collected 296 signatures after the exiled dissident, Mr Wang Dan, in April launched a campaign urging Beijing to change its verdict on the 1989 pro-democracy protest.
