A WOMAN has settled her High Court action over ankle and other injuries allegedly suffered as a result of slipping off a wobbly and unstable barstool at her local pub.

Lucy Levins (42), a mother of two, had claimed she was left in “complete and absolute agony” after she slipped and her ankle became trapped when she tried to sit on the stool after returning from dancing at the Edenmore House pub in Raheny.

After an operation on her fractured ankle, she developed an infection as a result of allergy to a bandage dressing which left her unable to walk and required her to use a wheelchair for several months.

As a result of her injuries she is unable to return to work, it was claimed.

Ms Levins, Edenmore Gardens, Dublin, had sued Monastic Investments Ltd, trading as the Edenmore House, Edenmore Shopping Centre, Raheny, Dublin, over the incident on February 22nd, 2009.

She claimed the defendant was negligent and in breach of its duty of care towards her.

The defendant denied the claims and pleaded contributory negligence on the part of Ms Levins.

On the second day of the case yesterday, Ms Justice Mary Irvine was told the matter had settled.
