Legal proceedings are to be issued against a woman who is believed to be claiming to have the winning ticket for last Saturday's Lotto jackpot, worth more than  €1.2 million.

The ticket is at the centre of a High Court dispute between the National Lottery and a 16-member syndicate of construction workers, who claim one of their number, Mr Noel Kelly - Ms Michelle Kelly's partner - disappeared after it was learned she was claiming to have won the Lotto.

Mr Justice O'Higgins was told yesterday there had been no resolution of the dispute. He adjourned the matter for two weeks and made an order for the Lotto jackpot to be placed in an interest-bearing account pending the outcome of legal proceedings.

Last Tuesday, 15 members of the syndicate got a temporary order preventing the National Lottery from paying out on the winning ticket. That injunction was continued yesterday for another two weeks.
