Abiola to be free soon, officials say

Abuja - Nigerian officials said yesterday the release of the opposition leader, Chief Moshood Abiola, was imminent because he had agreed to give up his claim to the presidency. But his most loyal supporters said there was no way, except under duress, that he could renounce his claim on the basis of annulled 1993 elections.
