Treasure, treasure, treasure . . . and loads of it. It's out there and you've got to get your hands on it. Put on your sea-legs, gather your crew of sea dogs and sail the seven seas in search of booty.
But be prepared, because on the way you will have to do battle with all sorts of unsavoury characters.
This is no journey for the lilylivered, powdered and perfumed boys that you see loitering down in the harbour inns. No, this is a journey for a real man.
In this arcade adventure you take control of a galleon and the objective is to seek out as much treasure as you can find.
When you find a port that isn't flying the skull and crossbones, go in and claim it for yourself. The risks are high, but so are the rewards.
No one said it was going to be easy. Lying in your path as you sail to the five different regions of the world are a host of medieval-style contraptions including giant saws pivoting on an axis. One encounter with these nasty mechanisms and your ship may finish up in the timber yard.
Mis-time passing through firebreathing canyons and the galleon will end up like a Hallowe'en bonfire. You can also be attacked from below the waterline.
To offset this barrage, you can stock up your arsenal with a host of weapons. These include rockets, broadsides, mines, depth charges, oil slicks, flame-throwers and even a mighty bolt of lightning.
If you don't want to meet a watery grave you will also have to out-manoeuvre other vessels hellbent on putting an end to your high jinks.
While there is a puzzle element involved in Overboard, it is not exactly testing. However, it does get progressively harder. This game is hinged more on arcadestyle action. It is highly enjoyable and quick to get in to. It should appeal to most game players.
There is a multi-player option where up to five players can compete against each other in a form of head-to-head. This can also prove a great way of familiarising yourself with the controls.
