The Government has allocated £7 million towards the cost of a campus at Dublin docklands for the National College of Ireland, writes Emmet Oliver. The college, currently based at Ranelagh, Dublin, has 800 full-time and 4,000 part-time students.

The cost of the move is £20 million. The college will raise the remainder.
