Brussels - Two passenger trains collided near Antwerp yesterday, injuring 71 people, three of them seriously, the national railway company, the SNCB, said. Twenty-three of the lightly injured were also taken to hospital for checks while the others suffered minor knocks or were in shock, officials said. The SNCB said there were no fears for the lives of any of the injured.

The two trains collided at Herentals near Antwerp but neither train derailed, the company said.
