British army bomb disposal experts have made safe a 46lb explosive device near the main Belfast to Dublin railway line.

The Lisburn, Co Antrim to Lurgan, Co Armagh line has been closed since February 25th, when an anonymous caller warned that a device had been left on a section of railway which crosses the M1 motorway.

The spokesman said the device was homemade explosives in a steel drum. A recent series of attacks on the railway line have been attributed to dissident republicans.
