The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, has announced a new £40 million project to enhance operations at the Stillorgan reservoir in Co Dublin to reduce the amount of drinking water which is being held in the open there. Mr Ahern said that the high quality of tap water in Dublin had been one of the major factors responsible for attracting increasing tourist numbers and industrial development to the capital over the past number of years

The Government has committed more than £5.5 billion to national water and water waste infrastructure over the next four years under the National Development Plan.
