Lecce - Four hundred illegal immigrants were picked up on southern Italian beaches in the early hours yesterday. "They are from the usual places - Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Albania," a police spokesman said in Lecce, in the south-eastern "heel" of Italy. The migrants were taken to reception centres in Otranto.
