FORMER FIANNA Fáil councillor Gerard Killally and former Offaly football manager Richie Connor have had judgment of €4.6 million entered against them at the Commercial Court over default of repayment on development loans.
On the application of Brian Kennedy, for National Irish Bank, Mr Justice Peter Kelly granted judgment for €4.6 million, plus interest and costs, against both men yesterday after he was told by a solicitor they were not opposing the matter.
In a letter, Mr Connor said he had no defence to the application. Neither he nor Mr Killally was in court.
The judge adjourned to next week proceedings by NIB against two other men who are also being sued over alleged default of repayment on the loans.
Frank Lawlor, Clonmullen Lodge, Edenderry, and Declan Guing, Carrick Road, Edenderry, are opposing the bank’s application on grounds including their claim that guarantees relating to the loans are void or voidable.
Both Mr Killally, Shean, Edenderry, and Mr Connor, Walsh Island, Tullamore, have in separate proceedings admitted making secret profits from two land deals.
In those proceedings, yet to be fully determined, Mr Lawlor and Mr Guing have alleged failure to disclose to them secret profits made from various land deals in Co Offaly in which all four were allegedly involved as partners.
NIB claimed it advanced €7 million for developing a hotel and leisure centre in Edenderry.
