A member of an armed gang which drove its getaway motorcycle into the kitchen of a restaurant in a breakfast-time robbery attempt has been jailed for three years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Gary Bryan (23), Killtalawn, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to carrying a sawn-off air rifle on April 17th last, with the intent to rob the Coachman's Inn, Cloghran, near Dublin Airport, and falsely imprisoning Mr James Brogan on the same occasion. Judge Frank O'Donnell said Bryan and others entered the Coachman's Inn and tied up five people they "intimidated and frightened". The court had been told the four-man masked gang, which tied-up and blindfolded the staff members as they prepared breakfast at 8 a.m., had been seen entering the inn by a civilian who alerted gardai.
