£250 fine for e-mailing computer virus to firm

A disenchanted ex-employee of a computer company who e-mailed a virus into its system in a "childish attempt" to get back at his bosses was fined £250 yesterday.

Paul O'Connor (28), Pearse Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty last October to attempting to damage the computer system of IT Intelligence.

He also admitted unauthorised access to the company's computer system and possession of matter capable of causing it damage.
