TWO men were being questioned by gardai in Dublin last night about a shooting at a traveller site on Monday night. Shots were fired into a caravan in which two children were sleeping at about 11.30 p.m. by a three man gang which arrived "by car at the site on Leopardstown Road.

Gardai said one man fired a number of shots from a shotgun into the air at the site. He then" fired two into the caravan and two more into another vehicle before he and his two associates escaped in what appeared to be a white Opel Ascona. The Garda report indicated that there were no adults in the caravan at the time.

Early yesterday morning, in what gardai described as a follow up operation, two men were arrested in Carrickmines and taken to Blackrock Garda station, were they were detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and questioned about the shooting.
