The remains of a body believed to date from the 17th century have been found in Smithfield in Dublin city, writes Cían Nihill.

The discovery was made by builders yesterday morning as part of the Smithfield Enhancement Works. The find is thought to date from that period due to a glazed earthenware pot also found.

A Dublin City Council spokesman said the site would probably be excavated as a pipe is to be laid.
