A Co Limerick businessman was recovering from a terrifying ordeal last night after two armed raiders tied him up in his home and stole up to €15,000 in cash.
The victim, who is in his late 50s, was found by his brother yesterday morning in an upstairs bathroom of his house, which is situated on Crawford Street in the Co Limerick town of Bruff.
According to gardaí, two masked men armed with pistols entered the house some time between midnight and 10am yesterday morning.
One of the armed raiders entered the man's bedroom and the second intruder entered the house via a back door.
It is undersood the intruders knew personal information about their victim who lives alone and is a well-known businessman in the town.
After tying the man up and locking him in the upstairs ensuite bathroom, they stole a substantial amount of cash and fled the scene.
Gardaí said they were not in a position to confirm the exact amount of money taken in the robbery.
However, it is believed that about €15,000 was stolen.
The alarm was raised at approximately 10.10am yesterday morning, when the victim's brother called to the house and found his brother tied up.
The man was not injured but was said to be deeply shocked by the ordeal.
