Tehran - Iranian authorities publicly flogged 13 men in a city centre square for drinking alcohol and harassing women.

Tehran - Iranian authorities publicly flogged 13 men in a city centre square for drinking alcohol and harassing women.

The lashings were carried out on Tuesday evening during rush hour, bringing traffic to a standstill on Tehran's main north-south thoroughfare.

It was the ninth reported public flogging in Tehran since the re-election on June 8thof moderate President Mohammad Khatami, have been endorsed by the hardline judiciary chief as deterrents.
