Up to 13 people are believed to have been killed in twin landslides triggered by torrential rains in northwestern Colombia.

The landslides occurred late on Monday and yesterday in the village of Valdivia in Antioquia Province.

"There was a landslide and between 10 and 13 people were buried," Mr Felipe Aguirre, director of emergency operations in Antioquia, said.

Antioquia Red Cross official Mr Alexander Ramirez said at least 12 people were missing after the landslides.
