THE SOCIAL NETWORK:Don Morgan, Rob Morgan and Ben Morgan, sons of the late Dermot Morgan, helped to launch the Irish Heart Foundation's September Heart Month campaign this week. The comedian, who starred in Father Ted, was 45 when he died of a heart attack in 1998.
The campaign includes an offer of free checks at more than 50 locations nationwide. It was launched not at the jester’s chair in Merrion Square that is a memorial to the actor, but around the corner against the backdrop of Government Buildings.
Don, who teaches at CBC Monkstown Park, said that some of his students think it’s cool being taught by Father Ted’s son. Rob, who works in the Merrion Hotel, was diagnosed with high blood pressure a few years ago. He went to a GP because his foot was swollen, and it turned out that he had high blood pressure and cholesterol. He said he “caught it early and manages it with medication, a healthy diet and regular exercise”. Ben is about to start studying law and German at Trinity College Dublin.
