Foxrock chateau for apartmentsCornelscourt House - a listed chateau-style house on 1.4 acres off the Old Bray Road in Foxrock - is to be converted into apartments.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has granted the developer, Strandsend Ltd, whose directors are Brian Durkan, Anthony Durkan and Geraldine Carter, planning permission to convert the 1870 house into three apartments.

The developer also plans to build eight two-bed apartments in a three-storey block over basement level and four terraced mews houses, and convert the rear outbuildings to two mews apartment.

Strandsend Ltd bought the 929 sq m (10,000 sq ft) Victorian property, which was originally built for a Church of Ireland rector, for around €4.3 million two years ago. The house, which is a protected structure, is reached at the end of a long tree-lined driveway, with formal gardens sweeping down to a high granite wall that separates it from the motorway.

Eircom hits the jackpot

An Bord Pleanála has granted Eircom permission for two major schemes this week. As well as planning permission for a residential and commercial development at the site they own with the OPW opposite Heuston Station in Dublin 8, Eircom has been granted permission for a mixed-use office and residential development at Distillery Road in Drumcondra, Dublin 3.

This site, which has been in use as an engineering office, will see the construction of three enterprise units , 26 work/live units , around 100 apartments, 14 terraced houses, a childcare facility, and basement car-parking. A resident of Susanville Road had appealed planning permission granted by Dublin City Council. He was concerned about the likely impact of the proposed three-storey townhouses located directly behind his property.

405 apartments for Sandyford

Well-known Galway developers John Lally, Bernard Duffy and Joseph Hanley - collectively known as Glencairn Developments Ltd - are to apply for planning permission to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for a scheme of 405 apartments on a six-acre site at Murphystown Road, Sandyford, Dublin 18. They are also looking to build a 463 sq m (4,984 sq ft) crèche, and an underground 639 space car-park.
