Board gives green light for 110 apartments in InchicoreDeveloper Danninger has been given the green light from An Bord Pleanála for a residential development at the Old Box Factory on Turvey Avenue in Inchicore, Dublin 8.

The development was opposed by Friends of Kilmainham and another party, John McGrath, but the planning board granted planning permission to Liam Carroll's company for 110 apartments in three blocks - the largest six-storey block will contain the bulk of the apartments.

The Friends of Kilmainham said the proposal would essentially be another gated development which will stand aloof from the community.

John McGrath complained about the excessive density and height and lack of private open space.

While An Bord Pleanála granted permission for the development, it stipulated in the conditions of permission that there should be no security gates at the main entrance.

Thumbs up for Ryder Cup facility at Weston Aerodrome

An Bord Pleanála has also granted planning permission for the temporary use of Weston Aerodrome in Lucan, Co Dublin as a park and ride facility for the Ryder Cup golf tournament which starts in September.

Parking for 5,200 cars would be provided on the three grassed areas, two of which flank the south eastern side of the runway at Weston Aerodrome, the third being a paddock to the south of Westpark House.

The permission will also involve the temporary use of a second entrance to Weston Park House and four agricultural entrances and the laying of a temporary track for feeder buses.

The aerodrome lies in both South Dublin County Council's and Kildare County Council's jurisdictions and both local authorities received an appeal to the park and ride facility.

Helena Butler was concerned about the increase in traffic volumes on the Hazelhatch to Celbridge Road which she said is unsuited to heavy traffic.

She said the planning application was made very close to the time of the Ryder Cup and, if it had been made earlier, a traffic management and pedestrian plan could have been made available to the public.
