The site is bounded on the north by Monkstown Grove and on the east by the Lambada apartment block. Fifty-seven underground car-parking spaces will also be provided.

Maria Sweeney and Andrew Heavey from Dalkey have applied to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for permission to demolish the former school building and replace it with a three-storey over ground floor building with an additional upper mezzanine level. The scheme, at the junction of Adelaide Road and Eden Road Lower in Glasthule, will comprise 29 one and two-bedroom apartments. A basement car-park will have 18 spaces.

Clontarf scheme opposed

Plans to transform the former Verville Retreat in Clontarf into an apartment scheme have been opposed by local residents.

Earlier this year Dublin City Council gave the thumbs up to plans by the Verville Partnership to build 58 apartments at the landmark building, which is a protected structure that has been in institutional use for some time. It is located on Vernon Avenue and adjacent to the new Vernon Court apartments.

However, this decision has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála by locals, including Alan and Mary Freehill of 10 Grosvenor Court in Clontarf, who said the proposals would detract from the character, appearance and setting of the "significant building".

If given the go-ahead, these buildings will be replaced by two three-storey residential buildings and 54 basement car-parking spaces.
