The interconnecting reception rooms are a dazzling showcase of original features. The ceilings are extraordinarily high and two enormous sash windows in the front drawingroom make an imposing backdrop.

The black marble open fireplace in the drawingroom is original. In the diningroom a black cast-iron fireplace with a decorative green tiled inset is one of the few non-original features in the house, but is of the period.

Original floor boards run through most of the house and French doors lead to a paved patio with steps up to a terrace and garden.

All of the houses on St David's Terrace have a Gothic-style church window to the rear of the ground floor which, local legend has it, is the work of the builder of a local Church of Ireland.

In number 5, the leaded window has been magnificently restored and is painted cream to magnify its impact and blend in with the surrounding walls of the kitchen/diningroom.

The extended kitchen is a contemporary touch with spotlights, maple Shaker-style units and a granite worktop and tiled floor. A double oven, integrated microwave and dishwasher is also included.

The bathroom on the first return is spacious with a blue standalone Victorian-style bath, a step-in tiled shower, and Velux windows on either side. A utility area outside the bathroom is masked behind louvre doors. Off the main landing are two double bedrooms, both with original fireplaces, and a single room.

To the front is a manicured lawn with original iron railings.

Number 162 is 130 sq m (1,400 sq ft) and has been extended to the rear.

The hall has the original quarry floor and the drawingroom is an elegant space with the original black marble mantelpiece, coving and picture rails.

The diningroom to the back of the house has wooden floors and two sets of patio doors leading to the rear garden.

The kitchen is fitted with a range of floor and wall units, has a tiled floor and is plumbed for a washing machine,

The family room is a cosy area in the extension with ceiling coving and a patio to the rear garden.
