An investment company has paid in excess of £750,000 for Howth Community Centre, on two-acres at Balscadden Road, Howth. Planning permission is likely to be sought for a mixed development which will include residential and community use. Conor Gallagher of Douglas Newman Good, who handled the sale, said the committee had yet to decide how to use the proceeds of the sale but it would be reinvested in the community and particularly local sports organisations. The centre, which includes a dilapidated building of 8,000 sq ft and two hard tennis courts, is located near the King Sitric restaurant. It has superb views over Balscadden Bay.
Under the development plan, the zoning for the site is to preserve and provide for open space and recreational amenities.
