In addition to a range of GAA memorabilia, Mealy’s Rare Book and Collectors’ Sale next Wednesday also features items of other sporting interest. There is likely to be spirited bidding for a match programme of the celebrated 1978 Munster v New Zealand game held at Thomond Park. Munster won by 12-0, the only occasion that an Irish team has beaten the All-Blacks. The programme, signed by the Munster team, has an estimate of €550-€700.

Other highlights include a 1920s Irish soccer jersey with lace collar (€750-€950), and “two unused Everlast right-handed boxing gloves”, separately signed by ‘Smokin’-Joe Frazier and Muhammed Ali (€400-€600). The sale also features rare books, postcards, coins and bank notes, cinema posters and a selection of autographs.
