THE CREAM and jade colour scheme of the drawingroom of Matisse, 23 Elton Park in Sandycove, Co Dublin, was designed to mimic the calming colour of lilies.
The wall colour is in Dulux Jade Cluster 5, a rich soothing green that makes a dramatic backdrop to cream furniture, candlelight and artwork.
The Westend Velvet carpet was chosen to match the walls and is in three-ply wool. It comes from Carpet Showrooms (01-283 1900 or www.thecarpetshowrooms.com), is plush enough to sink into and costs around €88 per sq metre. There’s also a similar Westex range.
A well placed antique or two helps to make this a formal drawingroom.
The 19th century ornate gilt overmantel mirror is big enough to suit a space with high ceilings. It comes from Sandycove Fine Arts (01-280 5956), where ornate overmantel mirrors cost in the region of €2,000-€3,000.
