CIF president's cunning new plan

Few apartments will be developed in Dublin over the next decade because of an obvious lack of demand

Few apartments will be developed in Dublin over the next decade because of an obvious lack of demand. The latest example of a developer responding to that is none other than Construction Industry Federation president Matt Gallagher.

His company Ravenshall has applied to change the planning for a site in Shankill that had previously been granted permission for more than 80 apartments and 17 houses.

The new planning application seeks to develop 72 houses and just 11 apartments on the site of just under 4.3 acres on the Dublin Road.

Developers think they have a better chance of selling houses and duplexes at the moment as the old Irish aversion to apartment living remains very much at place.
