John Wilson: Two good-value full-bodied wines to ward off chill autumn winds

Wines for the Weekend: An Aldi Chilean Chardonnay and Spanish Ribera del Duero

Two more full-bodied wines from Aldi today, perfect for warding off the cold autumnal winds that appeared a bit too suddenly this week.

Estevez Chardonnay 2020, Casablanca, Chile, Specially Selected, €7.99
A richer white wine with generous, textured ripe tropical fruits – pineapple, melon and peach, with orange peel coming through on the finish. Subtle notes of vanilla too. Try this with a creamy chicken and mushroom pie or a mild curry.

Baron Amarillo Ribera del Duero 2019, Specially Selected, €8.99
From one of Spain's premium wine regions, a medium- to full-bodied red wine with rich, ripe, dark plum fruits, a touch of spice and a good smooth finish. Locally, they would drink this alongside a roast of lamb.
