Winners and losers on the Cannes red carpet

Cannes fashion: The good the bad and the baffling

Zhang Ziyi's right cheek (not the one on her face) made an appearence during Cannes last year. This year she remained unfazed and the epitome of elegant chic. The Chinese Actress and model wore a Rolland Haute Couture dress, Brian Atwood shoes, Bochic 'Alicia' clutch, and Chopard jewellery. The combination of the white ruffled train and the futuristic, geometric top left us a little in awe of the Crouching Tiger, (not so) Hidden Dragon star.

French actress and former Miss Corsica, Alice Taglioni, wowed in a straight from the catwalk Armani Privé dress, along with Chopard jewelry

French comedic actress Frederique Bel's outfit shouldn't work, and yet the gothic, polka dot and tulle emsemble ticks all the right boxes. Not as keen on the heavy eye make-up however.

US actress and pillar of Hollywood, Jane Fonda, looked sizzling at 76 in Elie Saab Couture. Dress look familiar? Angelina Jolie wore the same one in silver to the Oscars this year. We actually think Fonda wins this particular fashion fight.

We have a love-hate relationship with Raffaella Zardo's outfit. We adore the Italian actresses skirt, but combined with the top the look comes off as too fussy.

French actress and model Laetitia Casta has been a Guess? model, a Victoria's Secret Angel and the face of L'Oreal, but in this shapeless dress she looks far from a cover girl. The gown is Dior Spring 2014 Couture decorated with crystal and organza appliqués, and while we appreciate the beauty of the fabric, the cut is baffling.

Every year, Elena Lenina, Russian model and TV personality, brings her eccentric style to the Croisette, and this year was no different.

We know there will be those that disagree but we don't think Nicole Kidman's Armani Prive dress is very nice. She looks like she has just popped out of a Princess Gladiator Barbie box (puffed face and over inflated chest included)
