Being invited to exhibit at one of the major, prestigious furniture fairs is one of the best paths for a designer to dip a toe into the international market. Superfolk, a Dublin-based studio, applied to this month’s Stockholm Furniture Fair and was accepted into the Greenhouse section, a part of the fair that showcases up-and-coming independent designers and makers. Established by NCAD graduate Gearóid Muldowney, Superfolk will show its simple oak and ash stools and tables as well as block-printed wallpaper, which has an interesting retro look.

Muldowney worked with Shane Holland and studied in Finland before setting up in Mill Street in Dublin and he also collaborates with basket maker Joe Hogan. The stools (from €80, depending on size) are available from the Irish Design Shop, Bow Lane East, Dublin 2 and the wallpaper (€200 for 10 metres) is available to order from info@superfolk.com.
