SUPERMARKET SWEEP:Tesco has cottoned on – in every sense – to the current vogue for floral prints with a number of simple, pretty summer dresses that are not only very inexpensive but go up to size 22.

They’ve also some terrific smock tops gathered at the back for extra room for the more generous silhouette. Though more wintry in colour, one slim grey dress with side panel insets of black has a trompe l’oeil effect, making its wearer look several sizes smaller. That costs a mere €29. The children’s dresses are winners too, some in grey and white spots, others in stripes or big florals with coloured buttons, again a mere snip for around €12.

Find the full collections at Tesco in Maynooth, Co Kildare, Clearwater in Finglas, Dublin 11 and Clarehall, Dublin 13 – with extensive clothing ranges in other branches. See tesco.ie.
