This bed costs €995, a pretty good price considering its high quality. Designed by Lorraine Brennan for Irish manufacturer Bona Vista in Co Meath, it is dark stained white oak with aluminium strips inserted between the panels.
We like it because it's strong, masculine and solid. The side tables with lights cost €200. Both can be seen at Brennan's show room, alongside a range of other furniture, lighting and accessories - all made in Ireland - which she showed at 100% Design last year. Everything is slick, often with a high gloss or enamel finish but not impersonal (subtle quirks give her work a lift). This bed is probably the most straightforward piece.
Ask also about a dining table with stainless steel legs embedded into the tabletop.
