How to get suited and booted in style without breaking the bank

Mens' fashion in Ireland has never been so exciting. At the forefront is fashion editor of MFI Magazine and stylist James Butler. We picked his brain and got him to share his secrets.

James’ style choices are impeccable. Pairing the sharpest tailoring with gorgeous accessories, we could all learn a thing or too off him. Trousers and jacket - €60 for both, Penneys: "I couldn't get over the value of this suit – the colour may seem a tad boring for some, but the subtle checked print throughout totally transforms it, and the price is perfect for anyone who may be apprehensive about the cost of getting suited and booted."

Shirt - €9, Penneys: "I love a good contrast collar on a shirt, and this one lifts the navy and grey hues of the overall look seamlessly. The cotton is also excellent quality, and I'll definitely be working it with a more casual look soon."

Waistcoat - €26 on sale, River Island: "I rarely wear three tailored pieces of the same style and fabric at once, so this grey tweed-esque number is perfect to mix things up. River Island has always excelled when it comes to tailoring, so I always pick up a few bits when I'm in – the quality and price are second to none."

Personal style: "When it comes to fashion, I guess I always find myself veering towards a rather 'put-together' aesthetic – be it slicked hair or a chic button-up, there's nothing quite like taking the time to look good. I love tailored pieces and classic separates, but am quite the magpie too – a statement jacket or some ornate vintage accessories always catch my eye."

Tips for SS16: "Getting out of the numerous layers for a start. Also, textures such as suede and denim seem to be working their way back into our wardrobes again, so I'll no doubt pick up some pieces in these fun fabrics. I'm also a fan of shorts, particularly when teamed with some light summer tailoring on top. The more colourful, the better."
