Una Brennan Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Skin Defence Daily Moisturiser €16.99

This is a higher tech moisturiser than the other Super Facialist creams. Brennan has mixed lots of hydrating and moisture attracting ingredients together with vitamin C to create a good barrier cream. Ideal for normal to dry skin.

Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Day Cream SPF15 €6.99

I find it hard to fault any of the Botanics range. For the price point the quality is excellent. The moisturiser contains lots of oils, shea butter and hydrating ingredients. I’ve recommended this moisturiser to lots of people and everyone likes it.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Youth Cream €35

A light moisturiser which I would recommend for twenty to thirty something skin. It’s essentially a cream gel that smells fresh, won’t overload and sinks in well. I’ve been using the other products in this range too and I like them - there’s an essence and a “youth concentrate” which is the serum. Layer either one under this moisturiser to protect your face from the elements.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream €28.50

It’s not just dry skin that gets dehydrated. Oily skin becomes dehydrated too when moisture is sucked out of the skin.. This can lead to flakiness and a tight feeling. An oil free moisturiser will prevent your skin from drying out. This gel cream classic from Kiehl’s will do just that.

Avene Eau Thermale Hydrance Optimale Rich €21.99

Every storm seems to have a name now, each one giving our skin a pounding if we’re out and about. Those of us with sensitive or rosacea prone skin can really suffer in this type of weather. A rich calming moisturiser provides a barrier between your face and the elements. This cream also protects your face indoors and prevents dehydration from overheated rooms.

Lancome Absolue Premium Regenerating and Replenishing SPF15 €112

My cranky dry skin almost cried with relief when I applied this moisturiser. It’s sumptuously rich and the consistency is thicker than most day creams. You will only have to use a small amount, which is good news considering the price. If you have very dry or mature skin that’s acting up due to the harsh weather this moisturiser will create a rich comforting barrier.
