What’s on Tuesday: Buille and Last Day Diary

Ionad Cultúrtha, Ballyvourney, Co Cork 8.30pm €15 026-45733

Armagh brothers Niall and Caoimhín Vallely are joined by Brian Morrissey, Ed Boyd and Kenneth Edge on percussion, banjo, bodhrán, whistle, guitar and sax for tonight’s concert. Always in evolutionary mode, Buille plan to record their live performance for release later this spring. Multi-instrumental and multi-layered, this is music to challenge eardrums and pelvic girdles alike.

Last Day Diary – Brian Duggan
Crawford art Gallery, Emmet Pl, Cork until Mar 30

Brian Duggan’s new short film stems from his major VISUAL Carlow installation inspired by Michael Cimino’s Heaven’s Gate, about the Johnson County War in 1882 Wyoming. John Hurt, who had a major role in Heaven’s Gate, reads from Last Day Diary, a sad, startling first-person account of the experiences of a doomed farmer, Nathan D Champion, targeted, besieged and murdered by hired killers. It’s a meditation on migration, power and justice.
