The west’s awake – or, at least, it will be by the time the Tome crew are done. After a few weeks’ hibernation, Tome kick off the buzz for 2015 with a night featuring party tunes, the usual gang of DJs and a very special guest. It’s shaping up to be a busy year of good times for the folks at Tome, with a berth at the Life festival already confirmed for May. JC

Municipal Gallery, dlr Lexicon, Dún Laoghaire Feb 14-Mar 22

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County encompasses much of South Dublin territory, a substantial slice of coastline and a substantial artistic population. For its second show, dlr’s new Municipal Gallery invited artists with local links to submit works loosely related to “home”. Then they drafted in curator Mark St John Ellis of nag, known for his empathic approach and his knack for noticing what others can miss, and had him select. The result: pieces by 37 artists, and the perfect excuse to go have a look at the extraordinary new library, if you haven’t already. The photograph above is by Fiona Hackett, AD
