Smithfield Square all a-glow

Forget the teddy bear’s picnic – today’s the day to head to Smithfield Square, as it’s transformed into a magical light garden for the Glow festival.

The Glow Tent on Smithfield Plaza will host performances, story telling, music sessions and workshops. Kids can create their own glow-in- the-dark monsters with Niamh Sharkey, creator of The Ravenous Beast and Henry Hugglemonster.

Brown Bag Films will show a selection of animated shorts; Smithfield green will be a-glow with light installations; the Little Light trail will have a Nordic folk tale-inspired quest for winter light, with lantern making, music and trolls.

Also, the Christmas Cracker Market by Dublin Flea and Block T runs all weekend in the square, so you can pick up some pressies while you’re there. Glow runs from 1pm to 5pm today. All events free. See facebook.com/smithfieldsquare
