A host of Irish independent music stores are planning special events to mark the third annual Record Store Day tomorrow.
Dublin’s Tower Records is offering a 10 per cent discount and a day of in-store performances from noon, including sets by 202s and Story of Hair (playing their last-ever gig), as well as Neil Hannon.
Jape is among the acts set to play at Road Records, which is also planning a one-off compilation CD of independent Irish artists.
City Discs will host DJ sets by Donal Dineen, David Kitt and others, and plans giveaways and special offers throughout the day. Freebird Records is hosting DJ sets and offering 20 per cent off all stock in both of its Dublin stores.
Derry’s Cool Discs and Cork’s Plugd Records promise plenty of special offers, and Kilkenny’s Rollercoaster Music will host sets by local hero RSAG and The Kilo.
The E2 Music stores in Navan and Mullingar have a packed roster of local acts prepared, including The Whatmans, The Aftermath and a rumoured appearance by The Blizzards.
