NICOLA Gordon Bowe, the author and lecturer on art and design, is to give a public talk in the Hunt Museum in Limerick next Thursday at 8 p.m. The venue is the Schumann building in Limerick University and the talk will deal with the arts and crafts movement in Ireland, which reached its peak in the late 19th and early 20th century with works in stained glass, lace, woodwork, metalwork and needlework. The talk is one of an ongoing series organised by the Friends of the Hunt Museum.

Other news from the museum is that its director, Mairead Dunlevy, is moving back to the National Museum as a successor to the late John Teahan, who died recently. Mairead Dunlevy, who had been seconded from the museum to develop the Hunt Museum, thus leaves before the long awaited move by the latter to the Custom House in Limerick, which has been completely refurbished by the Office of Public Works.

The Hunt Museum is now seeking a replacement for Ms Dunlevy.
