Such is the measure of this UK band's growing success that the original venue for this gig (the Button Factory) was soon gazumped by the more sizeable Vicar Street. Tipped by some at the start of the year as one of the bands to watch out for, Noisettes have effortlessly delivered with the kind of punchy pop music it's virtually impossible to dislodge from your head – and if there's a better faux Motown song as good as their hit single, Never Forget You, then we have yet to hear it.
Soul and atmosphere seem to be the band’s modus operandi, as well as a carefully spooned-out blend of pop, funk, punk and Afrobeat (courtesy of lead singer Shingai Shoniwa’s family background). We also hear that, unlike other sulky bands we could mention, Noisettes put on a bona fide entertaining show – and if that means Shoniwa literally swings from the rafters, then so be it.
